++  Reverend Jeff Lowery will be guest pastor this Sunday, as Pastor David is attending Oregon Synod Assembly in Bend this weekend.

++  Gorge Ecumenical Ministries 2016 Annual Celebration & Dinner “Creating Communities of Compassion”  Friends and members of Gorge area faith communities are warmly invited to GEM’s annual celebration on May 1 at 6:30 p.m. The event will take place at Riverside Community Church (UCC) in downtown Hood River and begins with a potluck dinner.  The program will include words of inspiration from keynote speaker Dr. Kristen Dillon, presentation of the 2016 “Inspired Service and Action Award,” and an introduction of Jan Elfers, the new Executive Director of Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon.

++  Naming Conversation  Saturday May 7, 9am to 11:30 in the FISH Community Room   Guiding us will be Jan Wierima, an expert in church naming and in the processes of discovering names together. Jan is from the Oregon Synod office. Lunch will be served for this occasion.

++  Monday May 9 at 11:30 our church is hosting a luncheon for the International Methodist Bishop Spouses that will be coming through town while attending the UMC General Conference in Portland. All of the food for the luncheon has been taken care of with the exception of cookies. If you are able to make or provide cookies for the luncheon, please let Carol Kyger know 541-386-6341 or  The cookies are needed by the morning of May 9. Cookies can be dropped off at the Church Fellowship Hall or in the FISH luncheon room on May 9 by 9:30am or you can contact Carol to make other arrangements.

++  Pastor Rinya Frisbie’s retirement     On June 30th, Pastor Rinya Frisbie will retire. Her last worship service with St. Paul’s UMC in Milwaukie will be Sunday, June 26th, after which there will be a celebration in her honor. As a surprise for Rinya, a book of remembrances, thanks, and photos is being made to commemorate her for her years of service. Congregation member Barbara Schmidt is asking for messages, letters etc for the memory book. Messages should be sent to:
