Notes from FISH Food Bank

There are a couple of things we need help with at the Hood River FISH Site:

***Every Friday morning around 9:00 AM we need a person who is able to pick up the donated food from Rosauers. It does require someone who has a pick-up or large SUV, as there can be 4 to 5 big totes. You simply go to Rosauers, drive around back, ring the door bell and let them know you are picking up the food for FISH. Sometimes there is help loading but not always and the tubs can be heavy. Bring the food back to the Hood River FISH Site, where there is always help unloading. A driver is needed on a regular basis as the pick up is every week. If needed, substitute drivers are available.

If you are interested in picking up the donated food on Friday’s or if you know someone who would be interested please let me know. You can e-mail me or call/text me at 541-490-5109. Thanks for thinking about it and spreading the word.

***Help with holiday food drives During the holiday season there are a lot of food drives and one of the biggest is conducted by Hood River Valley High School. This year the food drive is being delivered to Hood River FISH on Thursday, December 15. We will need extra hands to sort, put the food on flats and then put on the shelves. We plan to start the process on Friday, December 16, about 8:30 AM. They usually work no later than noon. If there is still more to do they will continue on Saturday, December 17. As always, individuals come for the hours they are available, so don’t feel like you need to be there at 8:30 AM or stay to Noon. Come when you can and help as long as you can.

Thanks ahead of time for all your help. Hope you are able to enjoy spending time with your family and friend this Thanksgiving.
