Notes-N-News

Good afternoon! Is it sunny…yes, at times. Is it rainy…yes, that too! Is it snowy…not until Sunday or Monday. Oh, we must live in Oregon!

Weather Related Cancellations this coming winter  If weather conditions are bad, church services, meetings, and activities may be cancelled due to hazardous driving conditions. In general, if local schools have cancellations, we may also cancel church activities. I will be working on a phone-chain so that everyone can be contacted. Weather related messages will be posted on the church office phone and by email. I will contact the local radio station to announce any cancellations too.

++  Cookie Walk drop offs  I will be here this Friday morning from 9 to 11am in the FISH Community Room. —-Jennifer Fowler

++  Table top tree  Does anyone have a tree they would be willing to lend for a ELCA Gift Campaign in the narthex? Call or email Jennifer in the office.

++  Sanctuary Decorating Party  We will be putting up the tree on Sunday evening, Dec. 4 at 6:00. This will be done in conjunction with the youth group, but the entire congregation is encouraged to attend. Help, or sit and watch and sip hot apple cider!

++  Advent Study
Each Wednesday, concluding Dec 21st
6:00pm study with soup supper
7:00pm Holden Evening Prayer Service
A sign-up sheet for providing soup and bread for the suppers is in the narthex.

++  FISH   On Saturday, December 3, the Boy/Cub Scouts will be doing their annual food drive, so we will need help on Monday, December 5 sorting all the food. Last year they collected about 500 plus pounds and they expect the same this year. Sorting food will start by 8:30 am and if we have a good crew we could be done by 11:00 AM or so. We will stop for sure by 12:00 Noon. Come when you can and stay as long as you can, any help would be appreciated.

Hood River Valley HS food drive Sorting will be on Friday, December 16. We will need extra hands to sort, put the food on flats and then put on the shelves. We plan to start the process on Friday, December 16, about 8:30 AM and usually work no later than noon. If there is still more to do they will continue on Saturday, December 17. Come for the hours you are available–don’t feel like you need to be there at 8:30 AM or stay until Noon.

Many of you may have made the acquaintance of Bill Hall, who usually attended Traditional Service, but always stayed for fellowship. Bill passed away on Monday Nov 21st. Bill lived in a local care home and was accompanied to church by his wonderful caregiver, Jane.

Blessings!
