What to Expect

The Traditional Service – 9:00 a.m.

The 9:00 service carries forward our blended congregation’s traditions of worship.  The historic pattern of gathering, word, meal and sending practiced by Christians for centuries and reaffirmed during the Reformation invites us to progress spiritually as we confess and affirm our faith in Jesus as Lord and Savior.
Aligned with the church seasons, appointed lessons guide the proclaiming of the gospel and the vital component of congregational singing reinforced by the choir. Music is chosen to amplify the week’s message with praise and thanksgiving and reflects the rich diversity of both our liturgical backgrounds—using Lutheran hymnals the first/fourth Sundays, the Methodist hymnals the second/third. A bulletin outlining the substance of the worship tradition assists members and visitors in participating fully in the worship experience.
The worshipful progression of the traditional service engages congregants collectively in expressing the depth and richness of our faith as people of God so that we may be prepared as individuals to live the Word in the week ahead.

The Celebration Service – 10:30 a.m.

DSC00143The format of the Celebration Service is less formal with freer prayers, a sermon that may involve some dialogue or other interactive involvement. We begin with several very energetic and singable songs that prepare us for worship. Then a Children’s Sermon…

We incorporate music of three main styles: contemporary, gospel, and “old time familiar”.  Some of the music will be led by a group of instrumentalists and singers. Anyone who enjoys singing or playing, please come and join us.

Together these rich worship offerings will help us share the good news with our friends, our neighbors, our community.  If you would like to be involved in helping plan these worship services please contact either Betty Shalhope for the traditional service or Linda Boris for the “Celebration” worship service.  May God lead us all with wisdom and joy!
